Gender Affirming Surgery Policy

We are proud to be the first—and currently the only—clinic providing gender-affirming surgical care in Eugene, Oregon.

Our mission is to support individuals seeking gender-affirming care with compassion, integrity, and clinical excellence!

In alignment with guidance from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), we do not offer gender-affirming surgeries on adolescents, including individuals under the age of 20. ASPS has stated that it does not endorse surgical treatment of adolescents with gender dysphoria due to limited long-term outcome data and the importance of careful multidisciplinary evaluation.

At our clinic, we require patients to be 20 years of age or older to undergo gender-affirming surgery. This policy is based on:

  • Our clinical judgment and experience

  • Current professional guidelines

  • A focus on ensuring long-term safety, satisfaction, and psychosocial readiness

We welcome patients to establish care with us before age 20 for consultation and care planning for after age 20.

For younger than 20 individuals seeking surgery, we are happy to provide referrals to trusted centers with resources for adolescent care.

Additional Criteria for Surgery:

To be considered for surgery, patients must also:

  • Provide a letter of support from a qualified mental health professional who has evaluated the patient in accordance with WPATH standards

  • Demonstrate readiness and informed consent through a comprehensive consultation process

Insurance & Payment:

  • We accept most commercial insurance plans (please call for details)

  • We DO NOT accept OHP (Oregon Health Plan), Medicare, or Medicaid

  • Patients with non-participating insurance (including OHP/Medicare/Medicaid) may pursue surgery on a self-pay basis, provided all other clinical and administrative criteria are met

We are committed to being a welcoming, affirming, and informed space for all individuals seeking gender-affirming care!
